- Single-focus: By trans people, for trans people. We are facing real state oppression targeted specifically at us, both in the UK and elsewhere; we need a focus on our liberation that does not have other ideologies attached.
-
The medical system does not have our best interests at heart, and we are not obliged to submit to it.
-
Information collection: Trans people should stay informed about likely developments both for safety and to be able to plan ahead, but staying up to date is exhausting and stressful. Besides, reading the news or scrolling social media only conveys what is happening in the moment, rather than the big picture and likely direction of travel. We're working on a summary of how things are, as well as a likely timeline of future developments, so that we will not be taken by surprise again.
-
Helping people pass is useful: While not universally applicable, most of us transition to appear as our target sex – and we should help each other achieve this. Through no fault of their own, some will find this easier than others – but it’s about what you can do with what you have. We should help people access the hormones and surgery they need, but also share resources and set up accountability groups for voice training and fashion advice. This doesn't just help with individual confidence, but also with our standing in a judgmental society.
-
Importance of mutual aid: When we help each other, we gain more than we put in. This is how we counteract the disadvantages the state and society have put us at. To achieve this, we should socialise with each other to make trustworthy friends and build networks and communities.
-
Local influence: Where we can influence how organisations we're part of treat trans people, we should!
-
Leaving the country vs staying here: Many trans people, including some of us, are looking to leave the UK, but we can do better than leaving quietly. Besides, many are not in a position to leave easily; we have a duty of care towards them.
We are not committed to any particular philosophy on trans issues, except in that we support the right to change one’s sex. This is where our name comes from!
