Recent developments like the recent UK Supreme Court ruling (and EHRC guidance), the Cass Report, and the upcoming adult trans healthcare review have created an unpredictable and worsening environment for trans people in the United Kingdom.

Our country is following repressive, non-democratic nations in denying trans people essential healthcare and basic dignity. Access to hormone replacement therapy is being curtailed, and waitlists for surgery remain at an all-time high. Gendered spaces trans people have used for decades are being forcibly segregated. Some of us can choose to leave - but, as long as we are here, we should coordinate a response to these attacks.

We want to bring together trans people across the country and:

• Gather useful information about the rapidly changing legal, medical, political, and social landscape, both to inform trans communities and to brief policymakers.
• Set up effective mutual aid networks, enabling more equal access to medical care and other essentials, and improving trans people’s quality of life.

Effective Transsexualism is a single-focus movement. We believe that, too often,trans activism has not been focused enough on, or effective enough at, fighting the rising tide of transphobia. We want to build something better.
